At Kovai.co, every step of our growth has been possible because of the community around us. And as much as we focus on building products and technology, we equally believe in giving back.
On 8th September 2025, we had the privilege of inaugurating the extended facilities at the Government Primary Health Centre (PHC), Vellalore, Coimbatore. This marks the completion of a project that has been close to our hearts for the last six months.
Why Healthcare, Why Vellalore?
When we began planning this initiative around 5–6 months ago, several options came up, like schools, infrastructure projects, sponsoring for education scholarship and other community initiatives. But one need stood out clearly – better medical infrastructure.
The Vellalore PHC, part of the Madukkarai block, caters to a large and diverse population. This region combines both rural and urban communities. While many development programs often focus solely on rural villages, we felt that an upgrade here could serve both sides, bringing stronger healthcare support to thousands of people.
The Inauguration Ceremony
The morning began with the opening of the centre, laboratory, and pharmacy, followed by the traditional lighting of the lamp. Our Founder and CEO, Saravana Kumar, along with his parents, led the ribbon-cutting ceremony and shared the stage with Tr. Rahul Krishnagopal, Chairman of Coimbatore North Round Table 20.
The event was hosted by LMF Tr. Arun Gunasekaran. Speeches followed, with Mr. Dhandapani from Vellalore delivering the introduction and Dr. Prathibha, Block Medical Officer (BMO), highlighting the importance of this project for the community. We also had the honour of welcoming Mr. Marudhachalam, Panchayat President of Vellalore, to the inauguration.
Adding their support were members of Coimbatore North Ladies Circle 11 – current chairperson LMF Cr. Nikitha Rahul, secretary LMF Cr. Varshini Vishnu, and LMF Cr. Sivakami Arun Nagappan. Their collaboration and encouragement were deeply valued.
From our Kovai.co family, we were proud to have Suprej Venkat, VP of Growth, Indhirani Rangasamy, Manager – Finance & Operations, Pradeep Jumani, Chief People Officer, and Arunkumar Kumaresan, Head – Business Development, present. Each of them has been closely involved in this project from the very beginning and was honoured for their efforts in ensuring everything came together smoothly and on time.
The program concluded with felicitations, addresses from chief guests, and the honouring of contributors with mementos.
A Project That Makes a Difference
The project involved an investment of nearly ₹30 lakhs. It was not just about putting up new structures but ensuring real impact. The extended facilities included a new laboratory, pharmacy, toilet block, waiting area, and we supplied essential medical equipment as well. With this extension, it is now equipped to deliver better care to those who need it most. It is expected that more than 800 patients will benefit every week.
As Dr. Prathibha, the Block Medical Officer, shared during the inauguration:
This aligns with national acquisition requirements as well, which makes it beneficial in multiple ways. A pharmacy and lab are critical because almost 80% of services otherwise move to private facilities. What’s special here is that while most CSR efforts stop with just constructing a building, Kovai.co has also invested in equipping the centre with what it needs to actually function from the day one.
Why This Matters to Us
For large corporations, CSR activities are frequent and are often on a grand scale. But for a company like Kovai.co with 250 people, initiatives like this are milestones in themselves. While we have made several contributions before, this one is special as it marks the stage where our business has grown to embrace the corporate social responsibility mandate. They require months of planning, resources, and commitment. And yet, they matter deeply, because they reflect our values and our motto:
#TogetherWeGrow
This society has been the foundation of our growth, and we believe it’s our duty to give back in whatever way we can. Strengthening a healthcare facility is a big step that brings hope and accessibility to many people out there in Vellalore.
Saravana Kumar, Founder and CEO of Kovai.co, says,
We at Kovai.co have grown to a stage where we could give back to society, which is as important as growing forward. When the Vellalore project came through, healthcare felt like the right priority. Seeing the facility being put to use from day one was the best assurance that our contribution is reaching the right people.
Conclusion
As we stood in the PHC that day, seeing the new lab, the pharmacy, and the equipment ready to serve, the public started using the facility – we felt grateful and humbled. This is what growth means to us.
Here’s to healthier communities, stronger connections, and a future where we grow together.
