At Kovai.co, we believe in working hard but playing even harder! And when International Fun at Work Day rolled around, we knew we had to make it memorable. What better way to start than with a playful prank that turned into a delicious surprise?
The Biryani Bluff
It all started with an internal announcement a day before the event. The message hinted at a special feast on April 1st, raising expectations across the office. However, on the morning of April 1st, our Chief People Officer threw in a twist, saying,
This left everyone in disbelief! Some brushed it off as a joke, while others were genuinely concerned. As lunchtime approached, everyone gathered at the lunch area, only to find empty food containers. The confusion turned into shock—was this prank actually real?
But we could not let the day end without biryani! Moments later, steaming hot plates of biryani were served across our Coimbatore, Chennai, and UK offices. It was the perfect way to bring everyone together for Fun at Work Day. Because what’s fun without biryani, right?
First up – Pictionary
With all of us comfortably satiated, we began getting ready for some fun games lined up for the evening. The first game on the list was Pictionary.
Participants were split into four teams, each taking turns to nominate a member to sketch words while their teammates guessed the answers. It was super fun to witness drawings that made perfect sense, while others made everyone laugh out loud. Some team members guessed the right answer even before their team member finished drawing the clue!
Scavenger Hunt with a Twist
Next up was the Scavenger Hunt with some unexpected challenges that had the teams solving clues, running, laughing, or often looking gobsmacked. The hunt started with one of the trickiest tasks to find seven random objects, each starting with a different letter from Kovai.co.
Then came a challenge to click a selfie with the newest employee and collect information from the recent intern without them realizing they were a part of the game. Imagine their surprise when random people kept approaching them with a camera!

I was working in my cabin when a team suddenly barged in for a selfie. Turns out I was part of the Scavenger Hunt—without even knowing it! Guess they really did make me a scavenger!
To add a digital twist, one of the tasks involved creating a video moment that could potentially go viral. It was super fun to watch participants run around looking for tiny cars and toys. As the clock ticked, teams raced to complete every task, dodging confused looks from their colleagues who had no clue what was going on.
