Coimbatore: Kovai.co’s 13th annual meet was an evening filled with laughs, cheers and some. This year, instead of choosing a unique theme and title for the event, we decided to adopt a permanent title for the annual meet. After an internal competition inviting title suggestions that reflect our brand, work culture, and the spirit of the event, we chose “Kovision.” Our Technical Architect—Front End, Jones Prabu Justin Raj, and Senior Creative Design, Dhanraj Kannan, came up with this fantastic title. So, this year, we celebrated Kovision2024.
The theme for this year’s meet was a neon party, with Royal Blue and Silver as the dress code. It turned out to be a glittering affair. Some people accessorized their blue clothes with silver, while others wore silver outfits with blue accents. Fun stalls were organized outside the venue. The stalls included ice cream, a hand and face painting counter, and a keychain-making stall where people could personalize keychains with their names.
All the stalls were a hit, and the Masala Coke, a popular Indian mocktail, was a crowd favourite, helping everyone beat the heat. We also set up a fun photo booth with cool lighting.
I always love getting hand art, and the stalls made the event feel like a carnival – said Senior Customer Success Specialist, Rajasri Nagarajan
The main event began with an electrifying entry by our leadership team, led by three choreographers from Magic Feet Dance Factory, who performed to some energetic and fun music. Our emcees, Vincy Michael and RJ Deepak from Suryan FM, welcomed everyone with games and dares that had the audience laughing. Our founder and CEO, Saravana Kumar, then gave a short speech about the past year for the company and announced new employee benefits, earning loud cheers. Following him, our Chief Operating Officer, Andrew Cloke, entertained the crowd with tales of his Tamil classes and the words he has learned so far.
Next, our Vice President of Sales, Gowri Ramkumar, and Lead Sales Development, Gayathri Ravi, delighted everyone with a dance to some popular Kollywood songs. This was followed by an amazing mirror dance by Magic Feet Dance Factory. The neon theme and their shiny costumes created a mesmerizing display across the hall.
It was soon time for the Annual and Service Awards. Thirty-seven people were recognized for their outstanding performance, and forty-three employees were awarded for their loyalty and consistent performance, having completed three, five, seven, and 10 years with the company. “ KPL tournament cups were also handed over to winning teams, but it was nice that this time, even individual player awards were given on stage like Man of the Match, Best Batsman etc,” said senior sales development representative, Jairam Nagaraj.
Between the awards, the crowd enjoyed a fantastic Chenda melam (Kerala drums) performance accompanied by violinist Joy Joseph.
Their song selections and beats were very different and we enjoyed singing along with him. Some even began dancing – said senior growth marketer—Paid Campaign, Arun Sankaralingam.
Our annual meet is a chance for everyone at Kovai.co to showcase their talents outside of work. This year, we enjoyed two fantastic dance performances by different teams, stellar singing by Premkumar Radhakrishnan (Lead, Admin and Facility Management), Anand Krishnan (Lead Sales Development), and Sheebha Austin (Associate Product Marketer), a fun mime performance by Mohamed Kasim (Software Engineer Front End) and an amazing ramp walk. The ramp walk theme, “Dark Harmony,” brought out the best in costume design and choreography.
We broke for a sumptuous multi-cuisine dinner at around 8:15 pm, and the dance floor was opened. Most people quickly finished their dinner to groove to DJ Gowri Shank’s Tamil and English dance beats. The night ended with lots of dancing, cheering, and moments to cherish for all of us.
